Busy busy!

Happy Martin Luther King Day! Time goes by so fast! It feels like we have been so busy lately, but at the same time it seems like we haven't done much haha. Little Chloe is crawling in full force now.... time to get that baby proof stuff done that I have been putting off for so long. We have been working on a puzzle and it seems like every time we take our eyes off of her she gets a puzzle piece and sticks it in her mouth. She is pulling herself up on furniture too! We're in for some trouble now! But she sure is cute! She is still a very happy little girl and smiles and giggles all the time. It is fun to watch her grow...and it is nice to get to spend time with her on my days off.

Karson has had a couple rough experiences lately. The other night, he came in from playing outside with a sad look on his face. When asked what was wrong he said he had gotten his tongue stuck to the trampoline! Like the great parents we are, we could not contain our laughter. I asked him why he didn't know better, especially after watching Christmas Story! His reply was "Well there was no snow on it..." Poor kiddo. Hopefully he wont do that again LOL. Then the next morning when I was playing with Chloe, he came into her room and this is what I saw...

He was crying "I can't get my arms out!" I of course had to take advantage of that Kodak moment and snap this quick pic! Then I was nice and held up the stool so he could wiggle his arms out. I laughed at him and asked him what he was doing, as I posted the picture on Facebook. He was not amused with me, and kept crying that his arms still hurt. Poor kid. I guess sometimes you've got to learn things the hard way. Anytime I showed someone that picture or mentioned it around Karson he started pouting or ran away to hide. Personally, I have pulled up this picture multiple times since taking it just to enjoy a private laugh :) One day he will find it as funny as I do...maybe :-/  But other than that he's good. He is a smart kid, and picking up on reading like a champ, and I am very proud of him! He has had a couple rough days at school recently, so every morning I have been telling him to make it a good day, and he seems to be doing better in class. I actually got an email from his teacher telling me how good of a day he'd had (versus why he had to go to the office like the other emails have been). It made me happy.

Cris and I are just trying to hang on to this crazy thing called life. He likes being able to watch Chloe grow up, and is still enjoying the Stay At Home Dad life... but who wouldn't?! My job sucks most days, but like I always tell people, I still really like the people I work with... so that makes it okay. I'm trying to decide what type of nursing I would like to move onto. The cool thing about being a nurse is that there are sooooo many options! I just need to find one of those options that really speaks to me. The more I do yoga, the more I want it to be a bigger part of my life... but my yoga certification plan may take a little while to achieve. So for now, I will just enjoy going to yoga classes on my days off :)

Spring Break is coming up... and I'm thinking St. George sounds like a nice warm place to visit. Haven't decided yet for sure, but whatever we will do should be fun! Well that's all for today...Namaste! :)

At least the cold makes some days this beautiful!

Yay for snow!

So far the new year hasn't let us down...we have gotten more snow in the past 2 days than we did all of the last winter. It has been a lot of fun! Last night Cris got the Honda 50 out and was towing Karson around on his sled. We had Jamie and her family over for dinner, so Colby and Aiden played outside with the boys until after 9:00pm! They had a little kicker set up by the driveway, and said they were getting quite a bit of air off of it! Chloe was in bed, and Jamie and I enjoyed some peaceful girl time with cute little McKinnley. I'd have to say it turned out to be a pretty good night.

When Karson got home from school today Cris towed Karson, Chloe and me on the sled around the block... and it was actually pretty fun :) Chloe was pretty much indifferent about it, but towards the end she started "yelling" and looked like she was entertained haha. Cris pulled Karson over the kicker a few more times, and Karson kept saying "Cris keeps bull-dogging me!" Turns out "bull-dogging" means that Cris was making Karson's butt slide off the back of the sled and drag in the snow... who knows where he got that saying from LOL. That kid never ceases to amuse me :)

So as far as resolutions go... I have been meditating and doing my own little yoga sessions every day for the last week. It is making me feel so much better... mind, body and soul, and I love it! Jamie and I are going to go to another class at Lhotse Yoga again tomorrow, it should be fun. I love taking people with me to yoga.... I just want everyone to have the opportunity to experience how good it makes you feel...especially hot yoga! I have decided that I want to get certified to be a yoga instructor. I have been researching it, and it seems like something that could help me feel like I am living a more fulfilling life. So more will come about that in the future :) That's it for now... thanks for reading!

Amanda's Baby Shower

Since my good friend Jamie threw such an adorable baby shower for me, I thought I would "pay it forward" to another good friend, Amanda. We decided to do a sock monkey theme, and it turned out sooooo cute! Amanda made the food, and I did the sweets (because that's all I really like to make). We had hot chocolate, cupcakes, spicy chicken roll-ups, crackers with humus, mozzarella bites, CANDY, and some veggies with dip. MMMMMmmmm.

(cake balls for favors! YUM!)

For one of the activities, I had everyone make a quilt square for baby Henry. Everyone was a little skeptical about tapping into their creative sides, but eventually they got into the mood and came up with some CUTE stuff!

We played some of the normal baby shower games, and Amanda got a lot of good stuff. Props to Jamie for making some adorable onesie cupcakes...

Overall, I was happy with the results... and definitely relieved to be done with the planning/entertaining too large of a group... but I stepped outside of my comfort zone and I always enjoy helping out my friends!

Resolutions

2013 is here already!  We had a pretty good year... but I think we are ready for a new start :) Karson is 5, soon to be 6. He is enjoying his kindergarten class and seems to be doing well. Chloe is almost 7 months old and just about ready to start crawling. Time seems to be flying by faster and faster all the time! Karson decided that his new years resolution is to get better at soccer (again)... so I am now looking into PAL soccer for him so he can work on that goal :) Chloe is a little too young to make her own resolutions, but I am hoping she decides to start sleeping a little better at night! Cris decided he doesn't want to make a resolution this year... I tried changing his mind, but I guess it's his choice.

My goals include doing yoga at least 4 days a week. I started working on that yesterday at Lhotse Yoga in Meridian. It feels so good to relax in a warm room and do yoga when it's so cold outside! When I took Kars to school this morning it was 9ยบ! My other goals include learning about holistic nursing and healing crystals, creating a budget and sticking to it, and finding happiness in myself. Riley guided me through some meditation over the Christmas break and I have been trying to incorporate that into my life as well :) So wish me luck in keeping my new years resolutions!
